Charles James Blanton was born in Columbus, Ohio 1988. In 2007 he began attending Bowling Green State University where he continued his studies until August 2011. At an early age he became fascinated with the seemingly endless possibilities that the digital medium awakened for art as a means of entertainment. This interest was sparked by a variety of films, including, but not limited to, The Rescuers Down Under (a 1990 Walt Disney film), Hook (a 1991 Steven Spielberg film), The Wrong Trousers (a 1993 animated film produced by the British film studio Aardman Animations), and video games, including Super Mario 64 (1996) and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998.) His passion for cinema, painting and concept art continues to inspire the compositional decisions he makes within the realm of photography.

His work in photography enhances his knowledge of composition and color within all of his 2d work.
