Frailty of the Destructive
Wintergarden Nature Preserve

Frailty of the Destructive stands as a metaphor for how the human race has disrupted and even destroyed much of nature. We have consumed everything in the way of our commercialization, and when there is nothing left to plow over or cut down, we move on to capitalize the next area. In my sculpture I have used materials that once came from nature (i.e. paper, flour, grass, soil) to create the figure. This is to show that even though human sometimes view themselves as superior to other inhabitants of the earth we evolved from the earth like everything else. The sculpture also shows natureís strength and endurance. I am expecting that my sculpture, after being exposed to the elements of nature, will be destroyed by nature after only two days in the woods.
