Project 2: Social/Political Commentary Website


Create an artistic website that comments on a social or political issue. Think about the different ways you can comment - for instance, you could make a website that appears to be a pro-McDonalds website but within the content, you realize there are photos of overweight people and the descriptions are less-than appetizing.

Think about the best way to make the point - should you use scare tactics? Satire? Subtlety?

PART 1 - Description of concept & two complete page layouts designed in photoshop

DUE DATE: Fri. Feb 19th, 2010
  1. Create a two to three paragraph description explaining your concept (Text or Word file).
  2. Create a layout in Photoshop for two of your pages. Keep a PSD for your own use, but turn in a JPG copy of it.
  3. Create a hierarchy/flow chart in Photoshop showing the choices the user can make in the story. Keep a PSD for your own use, but turn in a JPG copy of it.
TURN IN: Put all four files in the homework folder before the start of class: lastFirst_description.doc, lastFirst_layout1.jpg, lastFirst_layout2.jpg, and lastFirst_hierarchy.jpg where "lastFirst" = YOUR last and first name (ie. p1_mitchellBonnie_layout.jpg)

PART 2 - Project 2 Completed

DUE DATE: Friday March 5th, 2010
Make sure you have created a folder called "project2" (no spaces in file name) and put all your project 2 files into it. Upload the "project2" folder to your digitalarts portfolio site. It must be uploaded prior to class for the critique.

Also, copy your files (not including any PSDs) to the project folder on the R drive (in our class folder).
