Welcome to the Digital Arts Department at Bowling Green State University. Our students study topics ranging from digital imaging to 3D modeling to animation and video.   • New Faculty:
    • Dave Schwan will be teaching Professional Practices and an Intermediate Imaging class. Dave worked at as a owns his own caricature company, Ugly Duckling Art, and also works as a Web Designer / Programmer as well as owning his own caricature company.

    • Andreas Baumgartner will be teaching Digital Imaging Art this fall, fulfilling his Teaching Assistantship as a Graduate Student. In the summer of 2009, Andreas Baumgartner won first place in the Photo 27 Exhibition at the Findlay Art League and the Best Special Effects award at the ArtSpace/Lima Annual Photography Exhibition. He also participated in the Pixel Fusion exhibition in Thailand, summer 2009.

    • Greg Little will be on leave during the Fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters.

  • Faculty Accomplishments Summer 2009:
    • Dena Eber recently had her work in “The Emotional Body” at the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. She also had a work in the annual Toledo Area Artists Exhibition during the summer of 2009 at the Toledo Museum of Art.

      Dena Eber had her article, IDEAS 08: Continuum and “Deep Remixability,” accepted for publication in the International Digital Media and Arts Association journal, which will come out in the fall of 2009.

      Dena Eber and Shaurya Kumar coordinated SpaceTime, an international juried exhibition of student work. The exhibition is part of the SIGGRAPH conference and opened in August in New Orleans. Bowling Green students and recent graduates in the show include: Heather Moyer, Sedar Burns (third place), Melissa Griffith (first place), Danielle Capone, Christopher Koelsch (second place), Derek Yundt, and Ben Eddings.


    • Bonnie Mitchell and Dr. Elainie Lillios (College of Musical Arts) presented a Talk at SIGGRAPH 2009, entitled “Exploring Shifting Grounds” where they talked about their collaborative work. Their animation, “2BTextures” was also shown in the SIGGRAPH Animation Festival.

      Mitchell and Lillios exhibited their new immersive installation, “Inhabitants” at the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International in May 2009.

      Mitchell and Lillios were awarded Third Prize in the Abstract/Experimental Animation category at the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International for their animation, “2BTextures”.

      Mitchell and Lillios' animation “2BTextures” was shown in the Melbourne International Animation Festival in Australia in June, 2009.


    • Saritdikhun Samosa curated an art exhibition entitled, “Pixel Fusion” at the Phbulsongkram Rajabhat University, Phitsanulok, Thailand. The exhibition was sponsored by The Faculty of Indrustrail Teachnology for Phbulsongkram Rajabhat University. The show included Andreas Baumgartner, Bonnie Mitcheal, Dena Eber, Greg Little, Janet Ballweg, Kim Young, Shaurya Kumar, Seder Burns, and Saritdikhun Somasa. Sarit also gave a talk and conducted a workshop at the university.
