  • Completed Bake-A-Cake.psd file saved on class homework folder.
  • Upload a progress jpg of how far along you are in Project 1 to the class server. There will be a folder in the Project 1 folder for this.

DUE Thu 7: Project 1 completed and uploaded to server. Be ready to defend your ideas in an intelligent way, using terminology discussed in class.

Tue 12 - Tour of print lab; Prepping images for print/uploading to Print Lab.

Assign reading response 5, due Tue 19. Assign Project 2. Research papers due Feb 21, first series jpgs due Feb 26, second series jpgs due Mar 14, final and artist statement due Mar 21, prints due Mar 28.

Tue 12- DEMO: tilt-shift, High Dynamic Range (HDR), HDR lab work, Project 2 work day

Thu 14 - Critique of second series. Determine best concept and helps to improve.

DUE Tue 14: Have Project 2 second series jpgs uploaded to class server before class.

Tue 19- Project 2 class work time. PLEASE be prepared and have your final series Project 2 developed enough to get feedback from the instructor.

Thu 21 - FINAL Critique of Project 2. Discuss concept ideas for writing artist statements; elaborate on motives, motifs and walkthroughs.

DUE Thu 21: Project 2 final must be completed and uploaded to the class server in a flattened jpg format. We will critique these in class and discuss the execution of your concept. You will be required to make adjustments to this image. Also upload your artist statement for this project in a word doc format.


Tue 26 - Levels adjustments to match color/saturation. Revisit how to prepare borders for print lab. REMINDER: print lab is calibrate for darker imagery than on the lab computers! WORK day for Project 2

Thu 28 - Critique of prints for Project 2.

Assign Project 3: Synesthesia. Progress check Apr 11, critique Apr 23, print due Apr 25.

DUE Thu 28: Have a full size 42 inch print brought into class. Upload a one paragraph summary of your artist concept to the class server under the project 2 folder. We will discuss alterations and read your artist statements, then hang these in the hallway.


APRIL

Tue 2 - Clone to extend imagery.

Thu 4 - Guest lecture: Paul Hertz

DUE Thu 4: Bring in 4 example images of glitch from the world around you. Do not take these from someone else's glitch captures; make your own with scanners or quick captures from you cell phone.

Tue 9 - Pen tool; Blending paint techniques, inClass Copy Masters

Thu 11 - Brushes and mixing paint (the "cheap" way to copy a photograph). Discuss one-on-one Project 3 concepts.

DUE Thu 11: Upload to class server progress pictures of your Project 3 work.


Tue 16 - Mixing paint ("cheap" painting) and project overview

DUE Tue 16: Bring in a large resolution image jpg of a Waterhouse painting.

Thu 18- Critique masters and remaining time is Project 3 workday.

DUE Thu 18: Upload a finished JPG file of the Masters painting you have done. We will critique in class.


Tue 23 - Final Critique for Project 3

DUE Tue 23: Upload finished jpg of Project 3 to class server.

Thu 25 - FINAL: Print and artists statement due. Turn in at Instructor's office.
