Drop Folder for the Print Lab in 202

Preparing your files
You must save your file as a flattened TIFF, a flattened PSD file, a PDF, an AI, or a JPEG file. No other file types will be accepted. Each individual file must be smaller than 200MB.

Naming convention
Your file must be named as follows, your BGSU user name, followed by the intended print size, followed by the paper abbreviation, and image number.

Let’s say I want to upload multiple files that I want printed as 11x14s on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper. I would name the files:

Sburns_11x14_HGE_1.JPEG
Sburns_11x14_HGE_2.JPEG
Sburns_11x14_HGE_3.JPEG

The available papers and their abbreviations are:

HGE

Hahnemuhle German Etching (a heavy weight fine art paper with a heavy texture and an off white base tint)

HPR

Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Bright White (a heavy weight fine art paper with a slight texture and bright white base tint)

CVS

Inkjet Canvas (a heavyweight matte surface canvas optimized for inkjet printing)

LPP

Luster Photo Paper (looks like a traditional color photo paper)

SLK

Silkjet Clear Film (a clear film designed for use with photo transfer and negative processes)

PROVIDED

Own Paper Provided.

CARBON

This option is printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag matte paper, very similar to the HPR.  If you choose this selection, your print will be printed with a 7 channel black and white ink set.  Shortest dimension is limited to 17 inches.  Please prepare images with the following settings: grayscale image mode, 2.2 gray gamma, saved as a flattened TIFF format.

HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR FILES TO THE DROPBOX

Sign into your MyFiles account by going to:
https://myfiles.bgsu.edu

Your user name and password are the same as your mybgsu login.

Under the Bookmarks section of the left pane of your screen, click 'Root/'.
Then click on ‘Groups’ from the center pane of your screen.
You will then see the Digital Arts Printer Dropbox. Click on it to open it.
Then click the Upload button from the top.

If you have more than one file to upload, select the number of files to upload from the right corner of the screen.
Then, for each file, click the Browse button to navigate to your files.
Once you select your file, click Open.
Once you have all your files selected, click the OK button to upload the files. Depending on the size of the files, the number of files, and the speed of your connection, this may take awhile.

NOTE:
You will not be able to see your files in the dropbox once they are there. However, you will receive a message at the top of the window that confirms that they were uploaded.

Pricing

We charge $5 per square foot when we supply the paper. If you have your own paper, we charge $3 per square foot. Another way to put that is 12”x 12”=144”

In order to determine your cost, first multiply the length by the height and then divide that by 144.

Example: 8x10= 80, 80/144= .56 square feet. Then times $5 by .56 to get your total of $2.80

Silkjet (SLK) is currently available in two sheet sizes, 17x22 and 11x17.  This paper option is charged by the sheet.  A 17x22 is $12.99 and an 11x17 is $6.50.

NOTES

ŠYou will not receive your prints until proof of payment is provided.  Pick up a print form in room 202 and make your payment in the main office of the art building. Only Check and BGS1 are accepted.

ŠIt is suggested that you drop off your images 48-72 hours in advance.

ŠPrints are printed on a first come, first serve basis. If you wait until the last minute, you may not get your print back before your deadline.

ŠIf you want a white border around your image, you need to incorporate it into the image file.

ŠIt is suggested that your image be at least 150ppi at the intended print size.

ŠThe drop box will be checked at the beginning of each shift.

ŠIf a student needs a print quickly for a tight deadline, we can rush your order for a $5 charge.
