PART I

JOB POSSIBILITY EXERCISE:

Have handy the three to five job types that I asked you to look into for your homework.

Recall, you visited the following URL to list the sorts of jobs that are of interest to you:

http://www.khake.com/page27.html

As a group, go to

http://www.2-pop.com/VFXPro/Default

 (click on Jobs)

or

www.siggraph.org

scroll down and on the right hand side, use the “creative heads” search engine.

OR, for animation jobs:

Animation World Network
http://jobs.awn.com/home/index.cfm?site_id=500

As a group, identify 5 job listings that mesh with the personal listings of anybody in the group.  Take notes about the details so you can share with the class.  Also note if anybody in the group could NOT find a particular job listing that they really wanted.

PART II

JOB REQUIREMENTS EXERCISE

Go To the company websites below and note the requirements for the company and for the application process.  As a group, find a position that is similar on each site.  Record the requirements for this job at each company.  Compare and contrast the details and prepare to share this or any other interesting info you find with the class.

PIXAR

http://www.pixar.com/

NOTE:  Click on the “Mike Wants You” and then “submission requirements” section to get an idea about how to go through the application process.  They give good tips about demo reels.  Feel free to look at this, but we will cover the details of reels another day.  See if there is any helpful info in the FAQ section.
