PART 1: THE ARTIST STATEMENT
First Draft
DUE: NOVEMBER 10

Now that you are half done with your body of artwork for the BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition, you need to begin writing the ARTIST STATEMENT for that body of work.

In ARTC 4090, you have already discussed the goals and formats of the artist statement and did a reading with examples. If you want to review this, you can find the reading again HERE

This statement must specifically address the body of work you are creating in this class. It is different than the general artist statement you are making in 409. This statement will be hung in the gallery next to your artwork in the BFA Exhibition!

There are many different approaches you can take to HOW you write the statement and what you choose to INCLUDE in the statement. Examples of what you may want to include / think about are:
MUST BE TYPED
Turn in a hard copy to me and put a digital copy in the class folder

PART II: Choose Your BFA Advisor

For the BFA Exhibition, you must select a BFA Advisor. This is the DA instructor whom you work with that best knows you and your body of work. You may choose any of the DA faculty:

Heather Elliott-Famularo
Dena Eber
Bonnie Mitchell
Sarit Samosa
Dave Schwan

Decide who you would like to work with, schedule a meeting with them, show them your progress so far (if they don't already know the work), and ASK THEM if they will be your BFA Advisor. Don't assume they will do it, you need to ask.

You will want to meet with them regularly between now and the end of Fall semester, as well as in the Spring semester before the work is due in the gallery on March 5.

PART II: THE ARTIST STATEMENT

DUE DECEMBER 10

Revised, updated FINAL version due based on instructor feedback on first draft.

Your BFA Advisor must have SIGNED OFF ON and APPROVED your Artist Statement by this date.
