Børge Ring
1962 -
England/USA

BÝrge Ring is a Danish-born animator and is considered one of the most successful animators in Europe. Ring began animating at the age of 13. In 1948 he started an animation studio with Bjørn Frank Jensen and Arne Rønde Christensen in Copenhagen. The studio employed former Disney animator David Hand and Per Lygum. Whether Hand was influential on Ring, or Ring was influential on Hand, Ring's work carries a distinct Disney style.

In the 1950's Ring moved to Holland to work for the famous Toonder Studios. His studio work was primarily commercial. Although Ring was mainly an animator, he also worked on comics including "Distel," "Kobus en Kachelmans," "Fleurtje," and mainly "Chip 'n' Dale" for Dutch Disney.

In the 1970's Ring began working freelance as chief animator of French, Belgian, and Canadian cartoons. His notable productions are "Oh My Darling" (1978), "Run of the Mill" (1999), and "Anna en Bella" (1986) which he won an Oscar for.
