Assignment:

  • Gestural observation sketches
  • Falling Leaf or equivalent ( 100 frames), due 1/15
  • Start adding breakdowns to your animatics. Add Shot Numbers into your animatics. Update your story, camera, action, and sound. Due 1/17
1/10 Thur

Maya Animation Techniques:

  1. Graphe Editor, Breaking Tangent, Autokey
  2. Preparing / Assembling a scene, production arrangement
  3. Power of Incremental Save
  4. Using Constraints
  5. Using Camera
  6. Fixing

Assignment:

  • Students need to fix / update/ cleanup their Maya production files, and update and finalize the rigging. Due 1/29.
Week 2

1. Golden Poses, Gestures, Line of Action, Exaggeration!

2. Animation Method 1:

  1. Theory: Pose-to-Pose, Straight-Ahead, Layering Approach
  2. Preparing a scene in Maya
  3. Walk Through a Shot in Maya

  1. Process: Idea sketch > Video Reference > Thumbnail > Animation
  2. Breakdowns and Inbetween

Assignment:

  • Video Reference + Thumnail + Animation (#1):1 Video reference and 1 thumbnai clipl for one of your shot. For video reference it is recommend that you simulate the shot angle. Video + Thumbnail due 1/29; Animation Due 2/5.
