Frederic Back
1924-

Back attended a school in Paris in 1938. There he studied Printmaking and design and from 1939-44 he studied animation at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, Brittany. Here he worked with all sorts of art such as illustration, ceramics, painting, sketching, composition and engraving. In 1948 he instructed painting and illustration in Montreal in a school of Fine Arts and Interior Design. In 1952 Back got involved with with the French television network Radio-Canada television and in 1968 he worked in animated film section under Hubert Tison assistance. He made many short films for radio Canada. Throughout his career he has had many Oscar nominations and two of them won Academy Awards.
