ARTC 400 Collaborative Multimedia Development

Tentative list of projects - more will be added and existing ones may be deleted

You may work alone or in groups of no more than two - three people. You will be expected to show significant progress each week at our weekly meetings. After each project title is a suggested number of people.

3D Modeling/Video Projects

Project 1: Digital Art Demo Reel of 3D animations (2)
We need a new Demo Reel for the Digital Arts Division. This project involves creating a short 3D introductory animation and selecting and editing together pieces of animations from the past year. This project will also need a sound track. (see tapes/DVD for examples)

Project 2: Video Promo for the SIGGRAPH Art Show (2)
The SIGGRAPH Art Show needs a promo tape to be sent to the media for promotion of the show. The tape will be published in Media Producer Magazine on a DVD, and shown on TV, at the SIGGRAPH conference, etc. This project will involve editing together scanned artwork, animations, and videos of interactive work. It also involves the design of an introductory animation at the start or an animation that encompasses and showcases the work. This project will also need a sound track. (see tapes for examples)

Project 3: Video Promo for the SIGGRAPH Emerging Technology Show (2)
Emerging Technologies is a venue at the SIGGRAPH conference that showcases cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of computer graphics. The works included are scientific, artistic, and experimental. They need a promo tape to be sent to the media. The tape will be published in Media Producer Magazine on a DVD, and shown on TV, at the SIGGRAPH conference, etc. This project will involve editing together videos of experimental research projects. It also involves the design of an introductory animation at the start or an animation that encompasses and showcases the work. This project will also need a sound track. (see tapes for examples)

Web Design and CDROM Projects

Project 4: 2004 SIGGRAPH Art Show WWW Site (2-3)
We need a WWW site designed for the SIGGRAPH 2004 art gallery. The site will include images, animations and information about the show. This can have a Flash or HTML interface. This project involves designing a very creative interface, arranging the pages, entering information, and organizing the information. Project 5: WWW site for the African American Women Architects (2)
We need a web site that showcases the works and writings of these woman. Materials will be supplied by the Director of the School of Art. The project will involve creating an innovative design and formatting the information to look good on the pages. You can use HTML and Javascript and possibly Flash. The site must be easy to add new architects to the page at any time in the future. This will be a very high profile site and will be promoted at various conferences and events by the Director. Project 6: Center for New and Emerging Technology web site (2)
This project will showcase innovative projects at BGSU created using digital technology. Besides designing a site that is dynamic and reflects that we are cutting edge at BG, the people involved with this site will be going around campus video taping and taking pictures of cool projects. The site can be Flash and/or HTML and have animated 3D or 3D looking graphics. Check out: http://www.media.mit.edu/

Project 7: Web Site for the ArCADE art shows (2)
ArCADE is an international digital art show in conjunction with the CADE conferences. It showcases 2D digital printmaking and digital imaging from around the world. They have had 5 shows (Brighton, Derby, Teeside, Glasgow, and Hull, UK) and the work travels around the world after being shown in England at its debut. This project will involve designing a dynamic web site that will house the artist's images and any text written about the image. Project 8: Website for the 8th Annual Conference on Holidays, Ritual, Festival, Celebration, and Public Display (2)
This website will be a promotional site for a conference that will be held at the first weekend of June here on campus. We will be working with people from POP Culture to get the materials necessary. The site should be fun and reflect the visual aspects of holidays, rituals, festivals and public displays from around the world. Project 9: Promotion for the Digital Arts Graduate Program (1-2)
This project involves making an email-based, one page HTML file as well as a web site that showcases the work of the graduate students at BGSU. The site could have interviews, animations, images, images of students in their studios and bios. (See Poster and http://digitalarts.bgsu.edu/majors/computerart/graduate.html)

CDROM Projects

Project 10: CD-ROM for the Digital Arts Program (2)
Produce a CD-ROM that showcases student work, the facilities, interviews with students, and any other fun stuff that will help promote the department. You can use video, QTVR, audio, images, text, and make it very interactive. It should target prospective grad students, undergrad students, companies that may want to hire our students or give us grants or equipment and others that just want to know what we are doing in the department.
