Due Dates

Concept Project concepts will be discussed in individual meetings during the week of Monday April 14 and Wednesday April 16 (Classes 26 and 27).

First Version of Project for Critique Wednesday April 23 - have working version of project ready for critique.

Final Version Friday April 25 - final files for project placed in folder with your name - in class folder on server - turned in for grade.


Create an interactive artwork, animation, or user interface using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0


An introduction to ActionScript 3.0 in Flash CS3. To develop conceptual skills and interactive design skills related to creating a user interface, artwork, or animation.


Develop the Project following these steps:

Learn to use Flash CS3 - develop basic to intermediate skills using this program. Utilize online resources - detailed in the readings section - to build skills.

Develop your project using the following aspects of ActionScript 3.0:

Use Properties, Methods, and Events - the basics of ActionScript to create and work with:

The Display List
Timeline Control

Final Version
Turn in completed .fla (build version) and .swf (published version) files and any other related files that make it functional for grading.


Use Flash CS3 to create project

Keep dimensions to 800 px wide by 600 px high - or lower - can be other dimensions - but do not exceed 800 by 600 pixels.

Submission Requirements

First Version

Have your files ready for a critique - you will be able to revise these files before turning them in on Friday April 25 for a grade.

Final Version for Grading

Place all files in one folder and put them on the server in the location specified by instructor.


You will be graded on your ability to complete the assignment and meet all deadlines associated with the project.

You will be graded on concept, technical and creative aspects of your project.

You will be graded on how many ActionScript techniques you incorporate into your project and how well they work.

This project will be worth 20% of your final grade.
